What Is This?

It's pretty simple; but, let's break down the etymology just for kicks:

kart — Kevin, Athennia, Riley, Taylor

-graphy — something written in a specified manner or about a particular subject

cartography — an illustrated discussion of a topic; or mapmaking

the kartography — a roadmap of our travels and exploits, and a chronicle of our lives as a family

This is a family blog where we can share our adventures with our loved ones. And, since you hail either from Athennia's side or Kevin's—and thus may not have met some of us yet—here's a helpful cheat sheet!

Cast of Characters

Kevin

Kevin is Athennia's husband, Riley and Taylor's step-father, and the partner in crime of his cat Persephone Jade, Queen of the Underworld ("Penny" for short). He's a kevin-of-all-trades (Jack was his father) who enjoys writing, software engineering, music, philosophy, and gardening.

Athennia

Athennia is a mother, a mechanical engineer technician (specializing in photonics), and Kevin's wife. She loves reading, documentaries, frogs, raspberries, learning how things work, and triple-digit temperatures with double-digit humidity.

Riley

Riley is in middle school and loves playing guitar and video games. She has a cat named Lucky, and her spirit animal is a mole rat. She wants to own a casino and a cat cafe when she grows up.

Taylor

Taylor is a high school junior who loves to draw and paint, and aspires to become a veterinary technician. She and her girlfriend Ahlina live with her grandmother and have a menagerie of pets including three dogs, two cats, two ferrets, a bearded dragon, and a gecko.
