April Glowers May Empower
Why does April always start so negatively?
Our Aprils always seem to open with some sort of negativity, and this year was no exception.
The month started out okay enough: Riley went over to Kassie's for a few hours after school on the 1st for Kassie's birthday, and Kevin and I decided we were going to start taking evening walks after dinner. We started out at one mile but upped it to two by the end of the week.
On Thursday the 3rd I surprised Kevin and Riley with Qdoba and McDonalds. Then on Friday Kevin treated to Raising Canes:

Friday night into Saturday morning our power went out for no reason at 3:50 in the morning. We run three fans in our room for white noise, so needless to say it's pretty jarring when all of those just die all of a sudden. Kevin and I woke up immediately.
Peco couldn't figure out what had happened, but a transformer back in the neighborhood somewhere kept trying to come back online and then shorting out every few minutes until the power finally came back an hour and a half later at 5:30.
Nina dropped Taaro off at the apartment at 1:00 on Saturday afternoon so he and Riley could spend the day together.
A couple hours later some guy in a white SUV showed up across our parking lot and started screaming for our neighbor Magic Mike's sister to come out and get her phone.
He went for a good ten minutes, yelling at Magic Mike's Dad (who Kevin calls "Lurch" because "he's like 8-foot-20 and wears the waist of his pants around his nipples").
At some point Kevin came out to the living room and I assumed he had heard all the commotion, but he said he was just coming to get more coffee.
When I told him the guy had been out there yelling for ten minutes, he shrugged and asked why everybody puts up with this. He went to the window just as the guy was taunting Mike's dad and saying "Yeah; go ahead and call the cops then!"
So Kevin shouted, "IF HE DOESN'T, I WILL, JACKASS!"
So then the guy came over to our side of the lot and was trying to get Kevin to come outside and "say that to his face", but Kevin just put his phone to his ear and pretended he had called 911.
The guy left within 30 seconds. One problem solved hopefully.
Then again, when he got back to his desk not even two minutes later, he recorded this:
We took Taaro back to Nina's around 9:00 that evening and got home around 10:30.
Within half an hour we heard the two "thugs" hanging out on the guard rail just outside, and Kevin decided that tonight was finally the perfect night to call the police since the guys had just shown up and appeared to be drinking.
We were sure they'd be there for at least an hour, but inexplicably they started moseying away about five minutes later before Kevin had even finished giving the dispatcher all the details of their ongoing behavior (going back two years, but especially bad in recent weeks).
Then to make matters worse, the two units who responded (rather timely, to their credit) didn't even stick around long enough for Kevin to get outside and show him the considerable video evidence he's been collecting on these guys for over a month now :(
Sunday morning we got Dunkin for breakfast:

Then I went to get my hair cut and did the laundry.
But while I was doing laundry, the laundromat attendant inadvertently solved a little mystery for me and said they'd lost power two nights back when someone crashed a car into a utility pole in front of the McDonalds across the street. So that's why our power had gone out.
Meanwhile Kevin spent the entire morning and afternoon drafting a three page letter to the police to document the thugs' numerous offenses and cite specific sections of the Morrisville legal code corresponding to each one.
He also made a burner YouTube account to upload his footage for the cops. That footage is here if you'd like to have a look, and the degree of disrespect for our private property on display here is quite staggering when you consider that it happens multiple times a day and multiple days a week:
We got kind of sidetracked throughout the week and didn't get the letter in the mail until Friday morning, but Kevin also walked a copy over to the leasing office to give to our landlord as well. Fingers crossed that we get some results from someone!
Friday night we gave our neighbors Jeff and Keith copies as well, just to make them aware. (We already knew Jeff doesn't like the guys either, and Keith said he'd been unaware of them so far somehow).
Kevin and Jeff ended up talking for about half an hour and when Jeff found out Kevin's a writer he offered to read some of Kevin's stuff.
So on Saturday we dropped off the first 60 pages of Untouchable for him to see what he thinks.
Then we headed over to Catherine and Ron's house for takeout from Taormina's. And Ron's lawn guy Walter was taking down the big pine tree in the front yard!

But we absolutely can't forget to mention this tempting offer I received in my email midway through the week:

$5,000 in available credit as of March 32?!
Drive now, pay later?!
Ordinarily I'd say sign us up! But we probably won't be looking to take on more debt until maybe August 49th or 50th, if we're going to be honest.
Oh well.
Things are starting to look up already:
