Fit for a Princess
TWO princesses, actually... and half a castle.
So, we celebrated Olivia's and Hannah's birthday yesterday.
Kelly had asked us to come a bit early in case she needed any last-minute help setting up or putting finishing touches on the decor.
Boy, did she.
The Castle
Exhibit A:

The whole thing definitely had a low-rent feel to it that brought to mind the Mongolians of South Park destroying the Great Wall of China...

But Liv was enthralled nonetheless, and the first thing she did was snap a bunch of pictures with her new camera...

Hannah was a tougher critic though...

The Cosplay
And soon, the party was on!
You can't have a castle without knights and princesses...

I didn't see The PatriarchyTM enforcing any traditional gender roles though; so suddenly, my sense of self was all over the place like a compass needle on a planet with a fluctuating polarity.
And when you eat a bunch of jalapenos for breakfast, you'll be downright flaming by dinner.
Exhibit B:

The Feast
Kelly and Steve ordered a bunch of pizzas for dinner, and then it was time for cake...

The Chariot
Your carriage awaits, m'lady...

I think she MacGyver'ed it together from a paperclip, some chewing gum, and a moldy potato.
(...and possibly a Radio Flyer wagon and a bunch of stuff from the Dollar Store.)
The Gifts
Next, it was time for the princesses to receive their gifts.

Our gift was originally intended to be for Christmas, but we eventually decided we were too excited about it to wait that long...

Matching boxes packed with stickers, coloring books, art supplies, and a bunch of wooden shapes and animals to paint...

...and a shared box full of paints, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, and probably some other artsy stuff that doesn't start with a P.

The Scandal!
Please, don't anyone tell Taaro that Riley was talking to another guy at the party!

Look at Cole's face and tell me that he didn't know exactly what he was doing!
The Bestowal of Favor and Good Fortune
Earlier today, Kelly sent the girls' seal of approval...

They seem to be pleased with our gift; so here's hoping we're safe from the guillotine for another year.
