The Friend Zone
Bees are our friends (except the jerky ones), but this post has nothing to do with bees.
Athennia and I have been in the friend zone these past two weeks... Not that friend zone; but rather, a lot of introducing each other to our respective friends.
Lee
Lee and I had penciled in a hangout for the last weekend of April, which ended up happening that Friday. So, Athennia finally got to meet him when she came by after work. We grabbed cheese steaks for dinner and mostly sat around the table and chatted; but, it was cool to see the two of them bond over comic books. And, of course Lee made us listen to some K-pop, because it wouldn't be an official Lee hangout without the obligatory K-pop. ;)
Richard
Then we had dinner at Richard's house the following Monday: He'd invited us for dinner and a garden tour. Athennia and I had a pleasant and surprisingly traffic-free drive up to Pipersville; and Richard gave us the full tour of his numerous flower gardens, vegetable beds, the water feature he'd installed a few years back, and his greenhouse.
I think Richard's been gardening longer than I've been alive; so, it was quite an extensive tour... I had hoped Athennia wasn't getting bored by the end; but, she assured me later that she'd had a total blast!
Richard cooked us chicken and steak fajitas for dinner, with salad on the side. Athennia and I brought some wine and a Dutch apple pie for dessert.
We visited for nearly six hours, with Richard and me sharing funny stories from our past, and Athennia telling Richard stories about the kids, her job, and how we met.
Emily and Orlando
Yesterday, I finally got to meet Athennia's friend (and former "work wife") Emily and her boyfriend Orlando (with whom Athennia actually works currently).
They wanted to go out for Vietnamese food, which neither Athennia nor I had ever had (but, we'll try just about anything if there's meat in it); so, Orlando treated us to lunch at Pho Ben City (in Abington).
He started us off with Vietnamese pork hoagies and some skewered beef; and then we moved on to the main course: a half-gallon bowl of pho (beef noodle soup with onion, cilantro, basil, lime, jalapeƱos, and bean sprouts). Good stuff!
Up Next: The... Family Zone?
And now, we have several family affairs on our radar for this week... starting with taking our mothers out for a belated Mother's Day dinner Wednesday night :)
