Funnel Cake and Dodgeball

Also doughnuts, family friends, and a birthday prank :)

Funnel Cake and Dodgeball
Riley looks absolutely thrilled to have her picture taken as always :D

Kevin and I spent the day with Riley yesterday. We popped into Angy's Cafe on a tip from Kelly and Steve that they have funnel cake there and we took some back to my place:

Then we watched Dodgeball at Kevin's recommendation. Riley felt that it was slow to get going but admitted she "was like so invested in it" by the end.

Riley wanted some help with some homework that was due by the end of the night, so Kevin hung out with Lucky while I helped her:

We ordered pizza from Bambino's for dinner, and then Kevin and I had to get going because I had to drop my car off at his mechanic for inspection and oil change.

Earlier today, I finally got to meet Kevin's family friends Rick and Dee whom I have heard so many stories about but didn't have a chance to get to know until now.

Kelly brought doughnuts for everyone and we sat and chatted in Kevin's parents' dining room. Rick and Dee are an absolute riot! They complement each other so well, they're just perfect for each other :)

Kevin's mechanic called mid afternoon to tell me my car had passed without issue although two of my tires would need to be replaceed soonish but not yet. Since we're heading into winter and I'll be starting my new job with a substantially longer commute, I asked them if they could go ahead and put on all new tires and still have my car back today.

No problem.

If anyone is in need of a good mechanic, Kevin couldn't tell me enough great things about B&C Service in Ivyland, and I found them refreshingly honest and reliable as well :)

Finally Kevin and I asked Kelly what to get Steve for his birthday in the way of a gift card they would both enjoy spending. She recommended Outback Steakhouse but also dropped another helpful hint:

I'd normally say Applebees, but they're on his shit list right now because they messed up his order the last four times we ordered from there.

I spotted the immediate glint in Kevin's eye. And after we procured the Outback gift card, we stopped at an Applebees so I could run in and ask for an Applebees branded envelope I "forgot to pick up" when I purchased a gift card at another restaurant.

We packaged the Outback card inside the Applebees envelope with a note that said:

We tried to get you an Applebees gift card, but they couldn't even get that right! Oh well. Happy birthday anyway!

He loved it.

Happy (belated) birthday, Steve :)
