Let's Party, Then Let's Idle

Last night, Athennia and I went to a Halloween party hosted by her good friends Emily and Orlando.

We arrived almost an hour late, which turned out to still be early; so, we played some cornhole (or tried to—it was getting dark and Athennia was in heels) until everyone arrived...

The Costumes...

Since Athennia took all the photos over the course of the evening and I didn't think to get any of her, we don't have one of her costume; but, she went as an angel in blue jeans (contrast with the devil in blue jeans).

I was relatively proud of my costume at the happy intersection of lazy minimalism and clever mockery: While cleaning out her closet recently, Athennia found an old jacket belonging to her ex-boyfriend John... along with an old helmet she used to wear when she'd ride on the back of his motorcycle.

So, I decided to go as him.

Since we were attending a party where virtually all the guests work (or have worked) at the same company from which Athennia recently resigned, the majority of those people also knew John when he and Athennia were still dating (and when he too worked at said company)...

It's no big secret among them that John was an all-around class act: He had anger management issues and cheated on Athennia after mooching off of her for nearly a decade; and, he was also apparently a giant poseur who walked around pretending he was a viking upon discovering that he has Nordic blood after Athennia got him an ancestry report as a gift once.

So, I wore his jacket from his old landscaping job, carried Athennia's motorcycle helmet around in case I found a chick to cheat on her with at the party, and did my best to address all females as "Hey, hon" (John's infamous catchphrase).

😉
I also wore my 'Blue Screen of Death' T-shirt—because I just have a feeling that running Windows is exactly the kind of thing a schmuck like John would do.

The icing on the cake was a pair of Viking battle axes I happened to find laying around at the party! I'm not 6'6", but I did my best to look fierce—at least until I cracked over the sheer lameness of the subject matter...

Athennia and I downed a few drinks over the course of the evening (rare for me, and only somewhat less so for her); so, eventually, we each had to hit the bathroom...

When she came out, she asked if I had laughed at the picture.

...What picture?
The one right across from the toilet!
Yeah; I didn't see anything across from the toilet: I'm a Viking, hon. We pee standing up ;)

But luckily, she had snapped a couple pics!

Game of Thrones fans will get a chuckle; the rest of you will have absolutely no idea what's going on...

Heatonism

Late into the party, a bunch of the other guys broke out a ten-round hot sauce challenge...

Since I love spicy food, Athennia was surprised that I wasn't going to play. But, I've seen people puke blood from stuff like this; and, even though I probably would have genuinely enjoyed at least the first six or seven rounds, I'm neither masochistic nor competitive and didn't feel any particular compulsion to participate.

It was fun enough to watch everyone else make asses of themselves ;)

After the party, Athennia and I crashed at her apartment since she only lives about seven minutes away, and we were possibly drunk, and we had plans to hang out with Riley today...

Idlewood

There's a not-very-publicized park called Idlewood behind Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, and I had been wanting to check it out for the last couple months.

So, we did... and it was pretty awesome!

And finally, here's Athennia trying to explain to Riley what we meant by saying that the walking stick I procured for Athennia is such a good stick that I'd decided I was taking it home to use in the garden.

Sometimes, you come across a "good box" or a "good stick." It's just a grown-up thing, kiddo.

Not sure whether she understood. <shrug>

Eventually, we headed back to my house to shower and then spent the rest of the afternoon and evening hanging out together... Burgers for lunch, homemade pizza for dinner, and Riley slept over so she can go trick-or-treating in my neighborhood tomorrow night :)
