Happy Hallow—Wait; Why Is it Raining?

A great first Halloween together, rain be damned

Happy Hallow—Wait; Why Is it Raining?
Go ahead: Touch that balloon. I dare you!

Athennia and I got up at the crack of dawn so she could head to her first day of work at her new job!

A couple hours later, I made sure Riley was up; and then, I left her to her virtual school day and stepped in periodically to make her breakfast, cook us some lunch, and such.

Kelly and Steve stopped by early-evening and we got to see Olivia and Hannah! Then, when Athennia got home from an amazing first day, it was time to take Riley out.

This skeleton was not having the best time...

The Haunted Houses

There are two haunted houses I knew of in my neighborhood. I'd never been to either, but I know a lot of people rave about them and stand in long lines waiting to go through them; so, we left it up Riley whether she wanted to wait in line or maximize her candy...

The rain started to pick up as we were waiting in line for the first one. The guy who does this one is named George. He's a cool guy: I haphazardly met him when I ran into him while out on a jog one night just after his family had moved in back in October of 2018.

I don't know the details on how many actors there actually were; but, from what I overheard a few kids near us in line saying, it sounds like maybe George recruits help from family friends and teachers at the local middle school his son attends :)

Of the 20+ photos I took, these are the three that actually kinda-sorta came out...

On our way home, we hit the other haunted house: It's actually right around the corner from me, but I've never met these particular neighbors; so, I don't have any real details on the specifics.

I do know that they hired a professional to serve as an announcer, count how many people came through over the course of the night, and manage the flow.

I got a picture of him and Athennia, and only one of my many other photos came out...

Both haunted houses were quite impressive in what the designers were able to achieve in very limited amounts of space, and both experiences were well worth waiting in line for :)

A Late Dinner

Athennia had received a promotional email from Qdoba earlier that afternoon; so, we had pretty much already known full well what we'd be doing for dinner :)

We made the right call letting Riley go out first to try to beat the rain; but, by the time we got back from trick-or-treating, we were all famished. So, we sped over to the Langhorne Qdoba as fast as we could, got to chat with our buddy Larry (who apparently lives there), and enjoyed a tasty meal on the house.

All in all, it was a fantastic Halloween: Riley had a ton of fun, and Athennia and I enjoyed ourselves too. (And, in a way, I think the rain actually worked in our favor by thinning the lines at the haunted houses.)

Happy Halloween, everyone!
